There’s an old saying: “You can have such an open mind that your brains fall out.” This is very true when it comes to weight loss. So many strategies, so many theories…The South Beach Diet, The Atkins, Diet, etc. You can go crazy with all the options. Ultimately, you need to choose a strategy and stick with it; so the diet to do is what WORKS for you.

Note that I said “works” for a reason. The Atkins Diet is great, but if you fall off it and put the weight back on, then it doesn’t WORK.

For me, the key is carbohydrate control. A little bit for breakfast and lunch, but not indulgent. Perhaps other people can have more carbs—well…good for them. I can’t do it. I’ve learned that each person has a unique set of circumstances: guidelines that must be learned, respected and—eventually—even enjoyed.

So no pizza for me tonight, thank you. Sorry to say, but that’s just the way it is…

This is the tipping point between yo-yo dieting and getting fit for life. I went down the Whole 30 path, which is also extreme carb control, exceptions made for potatoes in moderation. When I first embarked on it, it was very hard because I am an accomplished baker. However, I genuinely enjoy the Whole 30 lifestyle. The results coupled with the new level of kitchen creativity works for me.

Another relative of mine found her sweet spot with veganism, which is far as you can get from Whole 30, but it works for her.

The food extremists who insist that their way is the one and only right way ignore that while the basic physics of weight loss are the same for everybody, there are other variables which make different plans work better for some people than others.

    Good post.

    1. Thank you for your post, Elspeth. I have not heard of Whole 30, but I will take a look since it sounds like it is in accordance to my current habits. And I agree…there are those that extol a strategy that works for them, but might not work for others. 🙂

  2. Major Styles, sir! Good article, sir! Sergeant Nikolic formerly of the unit Elite Avenue, reporting for duty!

*softly* It’s good to see you again, sir. I have a new website — relax, soldier. It’s my last and final one, my permanent home. No more deletions, I promise.

By the way, I’ve been preparing and scoping for my pussy-rampage. You should enjoy reading those true-stories. Ah — SIR! *sharp salute, cocky grin*

From now on, my military code name will by SORCERYGOD, rather than Greg Nikolic. I plan on using it in my music, novelist, and business careers. And religious, too, I suppose. Though I didn’t pick Sorcerygod because I plan on being a messiah — exactly.

Yes, yes, Styles, I know *waves hand, exhaling* Ridiculous laundry-list of ambitions to pursue. Did I forget to mention future leader of Canada? Certainly my self-esteem and -confidence is sky-high, at the VERY LEAST . . .

Oh yes! *slaps forehead* The name of the new and final and permanent website, home of ME ………. and YOUUUUUUUUU

There it is. So, anyway, here’s the deal. I copied-and-pasted your article, your movie review, onto my site without your permission. I’m assuming you’ll “join” Sorcbutterflies as a Butterfly (affiliate writer) if you don’t have to do anything extra.

The way it works is, you don’t have to do anything. Just keep writing on your own site, I will PROMINENTLY direct traffic to your site. So as my site grows, you’ll get more and more viewers of your own — through mine.

I am going to advertise and promote myself extensively — both on the Net and in real-life. YOU are my first Butterfly in my stable, Styles. I have –ahhhhhhh — selected a graphic image to headline your future articles at SORCBUTTERFLIES and I hope you like it. I also wrote you a short-story starring you. Why? Why the fuck not. I was gonna write one anyway, but I figured I might as well pair-bond with you instead . . . in the non-homo way . . .

So it starts today, Sep.30. Be there or be square. Keep leaving your comments, as extensively as you can, at our joint command. Sorcbutterflies — be all that you can be! Get an edge on life — with the Special Forces Writers!

    — Sorcerygod/Greg NIkolic out for now.

    1. Sounds great! I appreciate the traffic and of course, feel free to cut and paste away. I like your work, so it aligns with my Weltanschauung.

“I also wrote you a short-story starring you”

Ha! I can’t wait to read it. 🙂
